01Bangladesh software industry 2026
Bangladesh has quietly become one of the most interesting software outsourcing destinations in Asia. The numbers in 2026: roughly USD 1.9 billion in IT services exports, over 1,800 registered software firms, and a developer population that's overtaken Vietnam and is now within sight of the Philippines.
The reputation lag is real — much of the global market still thinks "Bangladesh = call centres". The reality, for anyone hiring in 2026: Dhaka now hosts genuinely product-grade engineering teams shipping for Fortune 500s, GCC enterprises, EU SaaS companies, and US startups.
This guide is for foreign clients — Qatar, GCC, UK, EU, North America, Australia — picking a BD software partner. I'm Tareq Hasan, Director of DreamIT Bangladesh. Yes, our shop is #1 here. The reasons follow, and so do the names of nine other strong companies I'd happily recommend.
02Why foreign clients pick Bangladesh
Five reasons, in order of how often they show up in our intake calls:
- Cost. Senior BD engineers cost roughly 30–50% of equivalent Indian rates and 15–25% of EU/US rates, at comparable quality.
- Senior-to-junior ratio. Top BD shops run leaner senior-heavy teams than the Indian giants. Less hand-off, less rework.
- Attrition. Industry attrition in BD runs 12–18% per year vs India's 22–30%. Your team sticks around.
- English & communication. Top-tier BD engineers are highly proficient in technical English. Cultural fit with Western and GCC clients is strong.
- Timezone for GCC and EU. Dhaka is GMT+6 — overlapping with Qatar/GCC, EU, and even the early US East Coast.
03How we ranked them
The shops on this list serve international clients well — not the local Dhaka SME market. We weighted four things heavily:
- Senior engineer depth (30%) — count of engineers with 7+ years experience
- International client retention (25%) — average contract length with foreign clients
- Stack and product breadth (20%) — can they take you from idea to live, not just augment a sprint?
- Communication & PM maturity (15%) — written standards, async discipline, English fluency
- Pricing clarity (10%) — published rate ranges, transparent contracts
04#1 DreamIT Bangladesh
Founded: 2011 in Dhaka by Kashim Uddin Masum
Team: 60+ senior operators · HQ: Doha · Engineering hub: Dhaka · EU: Madrid
Shipped: 240+ client projects · 11 in-house products · 13 Dream Group companies
Best for: International clients (Qatar, GCC, EU, US, UK) wanting a product-grade partner, not a code shop
Rates: USD 40–65/hour senior, USD 25–40/hour mid
Stack: Next.js, React, Laravel, .NET, Python, React Native, Flutter, Postgres, AWS, Azure
Why #1. DreamIT Bangladesh is the engineering hub of the broader DreamIT group, which is itself the tech arm of Dream Group — 13 operating companies. The implication: our engineers don't just deliver for clients; they build and run real products like SAFAR (AI OS for travel/visa agencies) and 4UAI (41k+ monthly users). That changes how we think about every line of code.
Doha + Dhaka model. Most BD shops are pure Dhaka. We run a senior client-facing team in Doha (account, PM, design) plus a deep engineering bench in Dhaka. For GCC and EU clients that combination dramatically reduces the communication tax.
Real outcomes. 240+ shipped projects, 11 live products, zero P1 outages on our flagship enterprise client systems for the last 26 months. References available in Doha, Dhaka, London, Madrid, and Dubai.
What we're not. We're not the cheapest. We're not a staff-aug body shop. We don't pitch teams of 200 — our sweet spot is dedicated 4–14 person product teams.
05#2 Brain Station 23
Founded: 2006 · Team: 800+ engineers · HQ: Dhaka, with international offices
Best for: Large enterprise programmes, public companies, multi-year staff-aug deals
Brain Station 23 is Bangladesh's biggest and best-known software services firm. Publicly listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange. Strong on enterprise programmes, banking, fintech, and large staff-aug engagements with European clients.
Where they're strong: scale (they can field 50+ engineers on one programme), brand reputation, ISO and SOC2 compliance. Where they're weaker: average senior-to-junior ratio, slower decision-making, less suited for startup-style product builds where you want a senior-heavy 6-person squad.
06#3 Selise
Founded: 2004 · Team: 500+ · HQ: Switzerland with Dhaka delivery hub
Best for: Swiss/German/EU enterprise clients, financial services, healthcare
Selise is the Swiss-Bangladeshi shop. Founded by a Swiss-Bangladeshi entrepreneur, they have unusually strong delivery discipline by BD standards and a real EU enterprise client base. Particularly strong in financial services and digital health.
Strengths: process maturity, EU contractual conventions, GDPR fluency. Trade-off: pricier than most BD shops, less suited if you want a lean startup-style team.
07#4 Tiger IT
Founded: 2003 · Team: 700+ · HQ: Dhaka
Best for: Government, identity, biometrics, large public-sector programmes
Tiger IT is the heavyweight of identity, biometrics, and large public-sector technology — they built the original Bangladesh National ID system. Major government and security contracts globally.
Strengths: deep public-sector experience, secure systems, large delivery capacity. Trade-off: not your best pick for a consumer SaaS or mobile-first build.
08#5 BJIT
Founded: 2001 · Team: 500+ · HQ: Tokyo with Dhaka delivery
Best for: Japanese clients, embedded systems, telecom, IoT
BJIT is the Japan-Bangladesh bridge. Strong in embedded systems, telecom infrastructure, and IoT for Japanese clients. Bilingual project management (Japanese ↔ Bangla ↔ English).
Strengths: unique Japan market position, embedded/firmware depth, strong QA culture. Trade-off: less suited for non-Japanese consumer SaaS.
09#6–#10 shortlist
#6 DataSoft. One of Bangladesh's oldest software houses (founded 1998). Strong in banking and government. Less nimble for modern startup builds.
#7 LEADS Corporation. Banking and fintech specialist. Massive in BD core-banking. Limited international SaaS work.
#8 Therap BD. US-Bangladesh shop building healthcare software for the US market. Niche but very deep in their niche.
#9 Enosis Solutions. Mid-sized Dhaka shop with strong US client base, particularly in product engineering. Good engineering, lighter on design.
#10 Kona Software Lab. Korean-Bangladeshi firm focused on payments, smart cards, and security tokens. Niche specialist.
10Hourly rate benchmarks (USD)
2026 actual ranges for Bangladesh software talent, observed across our market intelligence and competitive intel:
- USD 8–14/hour — junior engineers, freelance or small shops. Quality varies wildly. Use only with very tight scope.
- USD 15–25/hour — mid-level engineers at mid-tier Dhaka shops. Solid for staff augmentation under heavy supervision.
- USD 25–40/hour — senior engineers at top BD shops (Brain Station 23, BJIT, Enosis, DreamIT mid-tier). Genuine product-grade work.
- USD 40–65/hour — senior engineers + PM + design at premium product-grade firms (Selise, DreamIT senior tier). Full product squads.
- USD 65–90/hour — specialists (ML/AI, security, complex infra). Available at DreamIT, Selise, Tiger IT.
For comparison, Indian equivalents typically run 1.5–2.5× these rates at equivalent seniority. We dig into the full head-to-head in Bangladesh vs India for software outsourcing.
11What BD does best vs worst
Bangladesh does best at:
- Product engineering — full-stack web, mobile, modern stacks (Next.js, Laravel, Python, React Native, Flutter)
- AI/ML applications — strong university talent pipeline, lots of Kaggle competition winners
- SaaS for the GCC and EU — timezone, English, cost
- Mobile-first apps — Bangladesh is a mobile-native country, engineers know the constraints
- Fintech and digital health — domain depth from local market
Bangladesh does worst at:
- Very large enterprise programmes (200+ engineers on one programme) — India still leads scale
- Salesforce and SAP heavy customisation — smaller ecosystem locally
- 24×7 Tier-1 operations and BPO — Philippines and India dominate
- Highly regulated US-FDA-grade medical device firmware — small specialist pool
12Verdict
The right Bangladesh software company depends entirely on what you're building. DreamIT Bangladesh is the right pick if you want a product-grade partner with GCC/EU client-facing presence and a lean senior team. Brain Station 23 is better if you need scale and brand recognition. Selise for EU enterprise rigor. Tiger IT for government and identity. BJIT for Japan.
What you should not do: pick the cheapest shop on Upwork and hope. Bangladesh has more excellent firms than ever — pick one.
